We have many jobs set up in Job Cost that are continually in progress and we bill them once a month or so. Is there an easy way that I can pull only the jobs that we need to bill, based on whether there was any activity on them in the previous month? I am currently keeping track outside of Job Cost and would really rather have a way to pull the info on what needs to be billed directed from the program.

Hi, Carla,

Both the Billing Worksheet and Job Status report allow you to select jobs by a transaction date range and have the detail level be by Transactions. As well, there is an option to 'Inclue jobs without transactions' or not (i.e. option is disabled). After printing the report, you would only bill for those jobs.

Thanks for your reply. When I ran my billing worksheet, pretty much every single job came up. I guess that is because the majority of jobs have never been closed? If I just close them, not delete, will that take them off of this report and can I reopen them again if need be?

Hi, Carla,

What version(release date) of JobCost are you using?

On newer releases there is an option on the Print Billing Worksheet and Print Job Status windows (and others)to 'Include jobs without transactions'. If this option is enabled, all jobs specified in the Jobs/Trans date/Groups criteria will be shown on the report. If this option is disabled, only jobs falling within the Jobs and Groups range, and having transactions within the Trans Date range will display on the report.

It's likely that you're trying to restrict the report by activity. Keep in mind that jobs can be selected from a list (button adjacent to the job range) or with the use of report groups. As you suggested, close & archive jobs that are complete.
