Currently the Item profile screen allows for four Alternate Units of measure.

How can we go beyond this?

We have a need to enter 7 separate units.
Items are sold or purchased in the following manner:
- 5/LB bag
- 10/LB bag
- 20/LB bag
- 50/LB bag
- 100/LB bag
- MASTER bag (consists of one large bag of 10 5/LB bags)
- BULK (measured as CWT – hundred weight)

Try creating Alternate Price Lists and entering the additional UofMs and conversion factors for the items there. You'll want to create the UofMs first. Test this out and see if it is working as you are wanting it to.

It sort-of works this way, but it appears awkward.

I entered five of the UofM's on the main Item profile, and then added the additional UofM's as an Alternative Price List Item, using the Price List Code: RETAIL.

Doing this we can access all the UofM codes, but it is not very slick. In OE, if I need the other UofM codes, I have to either enter a Price List code first or remove the Prile List code - I can never see all the codes at one time by clicking on the Finder for the UofM.

Have you considered separate item numbers for the different sized bags of potatoes, then using a BOM to build the item (which also accounts for the packag cost of the smaller weight SKUs).

Yes, this is because the UofMs are associated with the specific item, either within the item record (base price list) or the alternate price list.

It would involve a structural change but I can enter a suggestion to R&D for you for a future release, possibly a version 9.

We intend to use a simple BOM for the potatoes when they are bagged.

But when we purchase or sell the product, the same product can be shipped in all the various sizes/weights, so I do not think that it lends itself well to set up the same Item under different Item No.’s.

I think you're making a mistake. Adagio's Bill of Materials add-on allows you to auto-build the item when its sold.

People ordering 5 lb bags, are hardly worried about the CWT price. If you want to find out the total poundage of potatoes sold, it's a simple GridView formula.
