Good day y'all!

We are in the process of splitting a company into two seperate entities.

We are looking to:

1. Copy all the AR to the new company,
2. Copy Vendor list to the new company.

I have created the tables for GL, AR, AP.

-> what files would I copy into the new books and do I simply change all the extensions to reflect?

Thank you and,

Cheers, JK

Hi John,

Both Ledger and Receivables have File | Export | Clone company functions that create another dataset with the options you want.

For Payables, Export and Import the Vendor List via Excel and a template.

Thank you Andrew.

I have managed to clone the AR side with no problems thank you.

I exported the vendors from AP but when I import them into the new books I get the errors noted below (I tried with the default template and then also all fields.. - same results..)

Any ideas / hints would be appreciated!

Thank you and,

Cheers, JK

Before new vendors can be created (either manually or imported), the required fields such as Terms and Control Account Sets must first be created.

If you intend to use MultiCurrency, ensure that this is properly defined in the Comapny Profile and on the Control Account Sets.

You don't import the Currency code, but rather this is set via the Control Account Set. If that field was exported as a column from the initial company, set the import template to Skip this column by replacing the Currency Code column with a Filler (the button in the middle of the fields screen, between the arrows).

Thank you for your reply.

I have someone working to input these primitives - thank you.

Using the AR clone company did not bring any of the history.

IS there a way to export all the AR records - all of them?

Cheers, JK

A quick idea...

If I grab all the AR* files and copy them and rename them to the new location with the appropriate extension will I be in like flint?

Copying the files seems to have gotten me everything AR over - is there going to be an issue with this?

Also, regarding the AP side what files can I grab for Terms and Control Account Sets

Thank you!

There is a Data Dictionary Export tool installed with GridView that will help you locate the files you need. Stitching together database tables is not for the faint of heart.

Hi Andrew,

Thank you - I am on a deadline to get some stuff out..

I have been using the technique of making new sets AP, AR, GL etc and looking and the naming convention - you guys are nice and consistent...

I've got all of AR with history over now as well as invoices ..

The only thing I need now is the two table names for AP terms and the other one so that I can import the vendor list and then I am done!

I will go and fight my way through the dictionary ... but if you know them names that would save me time which I'll use to head out of Dodge!

>>the required fields such as Terms and Control Account Sets must first be created.

Thank you and,
Cheers, JK
