Is it possible to default a Location in the Detail section of OE, so that the Detailed Line will automatically select the Location?

For example:
• We have Locations: A; B; C; D
• Item No. A-123 should always be shipped out of Location “D”. (This is the only Location where this Item is maintained)

We enter a new Order, and select “A” as the Location for the order.

But, if we enter “A-123” on the order, we want Location “D” to automatically appear in the Location field for this one Detail Line.

Hi Samuel,

The default location code for new items on an order is always the location code on the order header. You cannot specify a particular location by item to automatically load, though this could be an interesting suggestion for a future Inventory and OrderEntry upgrade (in the same way Customers can be defined for a default location).

If you want to have the majority of items ship from a particular location, set it first on the Order Header to minimize the number of times you have to edit detail locations.

Yes, I would like to see this feature added to the next release of IC and OE. Perhaps you can add this as a suggestion for the R&D folks.
(I imagine that eventually, we will see a version 9.0 of these two products.)
