Hi,

In Order Entry (using 8.1D), when you change the expected ship date on the document header, you get a message about applying those changes to the details. This will not change the ship date on any of the comment lines, only on the items.

Normally, that's not a big deal. However, if you're using Crystal Reports and sorting by ship date, the comment lines don't appear with the actual items. That means that the specific instructions for the order get missed.

The only solution to this seems to be to delete the original comment line and recreate it after each change in expected ship date.

It would be great to have the comment lines updated along with items.

Thanks,

Hi Ryan,

How do you edit the Expected Ship Date for comments and instructions, when editing an order? You can't, which is why editing the Expected Ship Date on the order header does not influence comments or instructions. In fact, it is probably a bug that this date field is populated at all for comments, likely being carried over from the previous item on entry. Many comments or instructions will have a blank date, if multiple comments or Text codes are entered.

You are using this date in a rather unique way, within Crystal Reports. How do you match up the comments with the appropriate item in your report, considering that multiple comment/instruction lines can be added to an order, associated with different items?

Hi,

You're correct - there is no ability to edit the date, they must delete the line (after changing expected date on header) and re-add the comment.

For this client, the comments apply to the order as a whole, rather than to an individual line, so it works out fine. I would imagine that you could use the "line number" field though, if you did need to match.
