We'd like the ability to mark a line on an order as ready to ship. All we can think of for now is adding an asterix * to the end of the description.

Is there anyway else to do this? It would be nice if that was it's own field. Right now I could write a formula for our crystal report to not show those orders (for the people planning production), but I'm not sure that is the best solution.

Currently there are no 'ready to ship' features or fields for Order Entry details, in the manner you suggest. You would like to flag on the order (without shipping anything) that an ordered item has been picked and is ready. Then the entry clerk can edit and ship all of these items whenthe shipment is to be sent and the invoice generated.

You are correct that the best way to implement this is to include a field or checkbox for this particular function, rather than require a custom report. We can add this to our suggestion list for a future release.

Do you use the Expected Ship Date field on the item? If not, perhaps you could edit this field to contain a value for the date that the item is 'ready', and if it is blank then it is 'not ready'. This would still require some customization such as a report, but it would be a bit more intuitive than an asterisk.

Assuming that you track backorders (quantity shipped = 0) why not just update the quantity shipped field with the actual quantity now ready to ship. There is a setting that would allow you to still post as an order when the quantity shipped is > 0.

I'm with Doug. Why are you not just updating the quantity ready to ship?
