I'm having troubles printing my A/R aged trial balance to excel. This is something I have been doing for a couple of years without any problems. I have been doing it once per month and the whole thing usually takes about 30-60 minutes.

Just recently (about the last 2 months) the creation of the file works fine, and the "first" exporting of the records works fine (but seemed to hang for a couple of minutes at the end). The creation of the work file and the "first" exporting of records takes about 2 minutes. My problem is that there seems to be a "Second" export (I'm assuming the first export is just a temp file and the second compiles to the excel format) and this takes forever and eventually just times out!

In the meantime, we've had a router change, but are still working off the same server. I'm not sure whether this could be corelated to the problemin any way. We are using Excel 2003.

I hope this gives you enough information, if not let me know what other info you need. We have already spent a fair bit of time trying to determine what the problem could be and haven't been successful in sorting it out.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks, Sue (Holiday Park Resort)

Hi Sue,

What version of Adagio Receivables is installed?

Can you print preview the same report with the same settings, as opposed to print the Excel? Just to determine if the problem has to do with the report in general, or particularly with printing to Excel.

Can you replicate the problem with a sub-set of the data, say for just one customer and not everything? Perhaps you have more than 65,535 rows to export and this is going over the maximum number of rows allowed in an Excel spreadsheet. If exporting typically takes 30-60 minutes, I assume there is a significant amount of data to export.

I'm running 9.0B.

I can print the report to paper, and I can print preview it. The problem seems linked entirely to printing to an excel file.

I have a very large data base, hence it taking 30-60 minutes. However, the aging report (because I don't print 0 balances), typically ends up being around 1000 rows in excel so I don't think it has to do with the 65,535 row limit.

When I run the aging in chunks (ie. sub-sets of the data) I am successful in being able to print to an excel file. I guess I can do it this way however is a bit of a hassle, and I can't figure out why all of the sudden I can't do the whole thing when I have been doing it that way for a couple of years.

Any other thoughts??

Sue, HPR
