Hi there,

How do I turn off the message in the GL batch entry: "Entry date 7/23/2010 is period 5 of 2011- and does not fall in the fiscal period 4 of the entry"? I'm always posting into the prior period when doing my month-end JE's and it's annoying having this pop up every time.

Thanks,
Jean

Profile | Batch Options | Warn if entry...

If you want to be warned that a journal entry date varies from the session date, enter the number of days variance from the session date when you want the warning to occur (eg. 30). If you never want to be warned, enter 0. You have the option of selecting any number of days between 0 and 9999.

Hi, Jean,

Setting a 'Warn if entry days away' option will warn you if the JE entry date is 'x' number of days away from the session date that is used when you log into a Ledger.

Currently, there is no way to turn off the warning that the JE entry date being used does not fit into the date range specified for the posting period selected. Perhaps, if you know you will be creating entries for the prior month, you would use an entry date that falls within the posting period.

I've entered your suggestion for R&D though.

Why are you not using a date that falls in the fiscal period you are posting to?

Hi JeanB

I have had a number of clients complain about this. The compromise solution would be to have it warn only once per entry, not on every single line of an entry.

The workaround for now is to purposely use the matching (wrong) fiscal period while you are entering the JE entry, and then after entering all of the lines, change the fiscal period to the correct one.

Thanks, I did think of this. I was sure there would be a toggle somewhere for me to turn it off though, but that I just couldn't find it. Something for the R&D guys to work on. smile

Thanks Steve -- that's a good idea. I like seeing the date that I'm actually making the entry - even if it is the wrong fiscal period - so this workaround is quite practical.

If I'm making a correction or adjustment to something months down the road I'd like to know the date that the correction is made.

Current versions of Adagio maintain both the "Transaction Date" and the "Posted Date". The "Transaction Date" corresponds to the Fiscal Period to which the Transaction is applied. Posted Date /Time /User should be sufficient information to determine when the correction was made.
