Hello kevin,

Is this a new problem? When was the last time you ran period end? New anti-virus? Changed anti-virus settings?

What's "slowwwww"? Customer lookup? Transaction Lookup?

Version? Service Pack?

Looking up customers it takes about 1.30 minutes for a customer to come up. Its been going on for about 2 weeks it started slow and now its bad.
version is 8.1A(070920. I run period end everytime I do statments and i just did them 9/31/09

When you indicate you are looking up customers, what do you mean? Using the SmartFinder to search for a customer? Editing or viewing a customer from the grid? Knowing the process you using will help us give a better answer.

Running anti-virus software in auto-protect mode will slow down data access. Perhaps you can exclude Adagio data directories from this mode.

Using the SmartFinder has had significant speed increases in the 90A upgrade.

When records are deleted in Adagio, the file size is not immediately decremented. Rather, records are marked to be overwritten when new transactions are created. If you want a file size decrease, then Adagio DataCare could be used to compact the deleted records.

when i say find, I mean smart finder and pulling somebody up on the grid. I thought if I purged old data the speed will increase and the file size will decrease.

Hi Kevin,

The customer SmartFinder is looking at the customer list, not the transactions list. Only if you deleted customers would there be an incremental speed increase. How many customers do you have?

When you get the chance to install the Receivables 90A upgrade, you will see a significant performance enhancement with the SmartFinder, where it will take much less time to generate the customer search list.

Receivables 90A won't likely run on the Windows 98 workstations.

Certainly not if the Windows 98 machines are still to be used.

This is a significant upgrade that involves some planning. Data is converted when opened by the new version. Don't install it just to test that the customer smartfinder is faster.

There may be other issues regarding the speed of the smartfinder, such as inadequate network access speed.
