I sent a disk with our Adaigio data to the accountant to do yearend and they called to say the trial balance shows balances that do not match our bank reconciliations. When I ran a trial balnce here I found out they are correct. They do not match the balances shown when I do a detailed listing for the GL as of the yearend date. I csnnot see where these balances come from as they are not the current balances either. Any ideas?

Can you tell us both the version of GL you are using and the release date (eg. GL8.1A (070923) or GL9.0A (080122) or some other version/dates)?

First, I note that your company is on an Upgrades plan and has received notice of Service Packs to GL9 that are subsequent to the release you are using. I know that sometimes work can be very busy but it is important to be running current releases at all times.

Please download and install the 'current' release by accessing the link provided within the email sent to you at the beginning of April. If you are unable to locate the email, you can download the service pack from our website or contact your dealer.

I'm also wondering what program your accountant is using to open your GL9 data with? Do they have a their own copy of GL9 or are they using some other program, such as CaseWare?

If using CaseWare, they might want to contact those developers to ensure they are using a version that is compatible with GL9.

Thanks. I do not know how the accountant accesses the data and I will ask. With regards to the updates, our file server crashed in May and although the Adagio data was backed up daily the payroll was backed up inside the program so the past month has been recreating 2 years of payroll, not to mention figuring out what was lost on the day of the crash. Sorry. I will do our updates (service packs) immediately.

I have installed the Service Pak. It does not change the figures on the trial balance and those figures do not agree with the GL. The accountant is using Casewares but it is compatible with version 9. Any other ideas?

Just to let you know. I guess the Service pak did solve the problem but was unable to fix my mental problem. When I looked more carefully I realized I was still using the old trial balance which did not match. When I used the one printed after running the service pak we are basically balanced. Sorry to waste your time. I will try to stay on top of the upgrades and service paks from now on.
