I am a new user and just getting things up and running. All of my accounts are in and budgets have been imported. A/P is running smoothly. I am having difficulty with reports.

When a report is created in Financial Reporter where does it pull the year date? And/or is there a way to set it?

If I pull up a template, add one of my accounts, and hit F9 the date displayed is current fiscal with current data.

If I drag and create a new report and insert "as of date" it pulls up last years fiscal with last years data.

What am I missing?

I have two years active 2007/08 (I have not yet closed 2007/08 because I hope to import month end figures to it once the audit is done) and 2008/09 which it recognizes as the current fiscal.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi SuzBem:

Good news: First, the solution is easy and secondly, it's not your fault! You need an option to select the Fiscal year when viewing a Financial Ststement.

Do the following:
-Open the Financial Reporter in GL
-Click on View then select Customize from the menu
-You will see a dialogue box with 4 tabs
-On the "Toolbars" tab, click on the "View" option in the list
-Do not remove the check-mark
-Click on the "Reset" button
-You should see a Fiscal Year selection box appear beside the Period selection box
-Close the dialogue box.

And I say that it's not your fault because I believe that the Fiscal Year should be there automatically. Perhaps Softrak will make the change for future releases.

Hi Bruce,

Since the toolbar is customizeable, the Financial Reporter does not know whether the button (or dropdown) is missing or not on purpose. That's why there's a "reset" button.

Newly created databases get the complete button set.

I will admit it's a common question though. We could clear all the toolbar settings when a new version is installed, but then people would have to re-arrange their toolbars the way they want them.

Would that be preferable?

Hi Andrew:

The posting says that she is a new user. From that I inferred that her firm had just installed GL. I think in that circumstance the Fiscal Year should be there automatically.

Thinking about your answer, it seems as if FR doesn't know if this is the first access or the 100th. I guess you would need to distinguish the first access to be able to push the Fiscal year to the button bar. Is that possible in an upgrade scenario?

It would certainly save a lot of questions!

Hi Bruce,

Aah - she might be a new user of Ledger V9.0A (but when I checked just now, I find they've ony just installed it).

I'll go and make sure that a new install displays correctly.

Cheers - enjoy the weekend...

Thank you so much. This was exactly what I needed. And thanks for the tips about the webinars. I've signed up for 3 of them over the next few weeks.
