We have SBS Server 2003 with XP Pro Workstations.

On one of the XP Pro Workstations that stays on all night, we have a Scheduled Task set up to execute DataCare to run during the night.

The path is:

\\srvsbs\ACCPAC\SOFTRAK\DCWIN\dcwin.exe /uSYS /Psys /d\\srvsbs\ACCPAC\data /edat /rALL /q

We've also tried:

I:\ACCPAC\SOFTRAK\DCWIN\dcwin.exe /uSYS /Psys /d\\srvsbs\ACCPAC\data /edat /rALL /q

Both work fine as long as the XP Pro Workstation computer where the scheduled task is located, is logged on.

The XP Pro Workstation computer however is logged off at night and in that situation, the Schedule Task will not "Wake Up" the computer and therefore, does not run.

Does anyone else use Scheduled Tasks to run DataCare at night? Can anyone tell me how to have it sucessfully run in our network environment?

Thanks,

Hi Susan,

There's an option in the schedule tasks setup (on the settings tab, see attached screenshot) to "wake the computer to run this task". Do you have that turned on?

Susan,

On the Task tab of properties for the Scheduled Task, do you have a check by "Enabled(scheduled task runs at a specified time) and a valid username and password in the "Run as:" selection?

On the Task tab, "Run only if logged in" IS UNCHECKED. "Enabled (scheduled task runs at a specific time)" IS CHECKED. Run as: is set to a valid username and I also entered the correct password.

On the Settings tab, "Wake the computer to run this task" IS CHECKED.

Susan,

Have you included the workstation name along with the username as in "MyWorkStation\Username"?

Actually, I leave my workstation logged in and just lock it.

When I log back into the computer AFTER the task was suppose to have run, the task status says, "Could not Start".

Each time I create a new task it automatically comes up with the default User name: DOMAIN\User. Then it asks me to enter the password twice.

I can try leaving my workstation logged in, but I'm not sure if it will log out on it's own if left idle long enough? Also, I need to be able to continue to remotely log in with Remote Desktop RDP.

I tested and it works with "LOCKING" the computer instead of "LOGGING OFF". I'll give that a try and see if I can still Remote in tonight with RDP.

Thanks,

Susan,

I suspect RDP will be just fine. By locking the computer instead of logging out, you do not have the delay with all your startup programs being loaded and I suspect this delay caused your issue. This is just a Microsoft thing and not something that can be controlled by the good people at Adagio.
