Hello all:

My assistant and I have been trying to create this report, but we can't figure out to do it. I thought others would have run into the same problem, so I looked around the forum, but nothing. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Here's what we would like to get out of this report:

Any unshipped orders for a particular customer, showing the customer ID (Cust#), Order#, Expected Ship Date, Total Amount, Item#, Qty Ordered, Qty Shipped.

The Orders Header table contains all the customer information, but not the item# and quantities. The Order Details table has all the item information, but not the customer ID etc. The only field both tables seem to have in common is the Expected Ship date. I tried to link both queries through the Expected Ship Date, but that didn't seem toproduce any results in the linked to query (Order Detail table).

can this be done? If so, how?

Thanks in advance!

Andre

My fix for a report like this was to do a gridview of OE Header information needed with a filter for open orders. Then, a gridview of the OE Detail file with item numbers, quantities, and etc. I then linked the two files by customer number and saved it as a workspace.

Once this was done I could sort the Header information by customer and select all open orders for the customer. This would produce all the item information for that particular customer.

We actually used it for a list of all open orders items that could be exported and totaled for a quick view of items needing to be processed for shipment.

For an example of this type file refer to \softrak\gvwin\views\adagio\CustomerOrders.gvs. This example uses the Customer file and Order file. You can build a smiliar file with Order Headers and Order Details.

Maybe that will help more than my rambling......

Thanks, David! Our problem seems to be there doesn't seem to be a customer number in the OE Detail file. We went probably a hundred times through the pull-down list of available fields in the OE Detail file, but we were unable to find the Cust# field that exists in the Order Header file. We'll look at the sample file you suggested to see if we can figure out what we're missing.

Thanks again for the quick response! Have a great weekend!
