We are using a Workspace with three Views. Problem: there is a ton of records, as follows:
1. Customers: (44,000 records) <linked to O/E Header by Cust#>
2. O/E History-Header (250,000 records) <linked to O/E Details by Doc#>
3. O/E History-Details (1,600,000 records)

We find a Customer by Name or Tel #. This works quick.
Next, we double-click to view the Transactions from O/E Header - this takes a while.
Finally, to view the Details, we double-click the Doc# to view the Details, but this takes way too long.

The client is using GV with Gridview Server, but it still takes too long.

Any suggestions?

In the O/E History-Header View make sure you are showing the Order Key field (which is the Doc # prefixed with an I, O or C).

In the O/E History-Detail also show the Order Key field and then link the Views on the Order Key field not the Doc #

If the Link from your Customer File to your O/E History-Header is on Cust # then this sould be very quick and only display History-Headers for that customer.

Michael:
What a difference! Night & Day.
The O/E Detail now is displayed instantly (instead of waiting endlessly).

However, even though we are linked from the Customer View to the O/E Header View by Cust #, we still have to wait about 4-5 seconds when we double click on the Cust # in the Customer View. Can this be improved as well?

The "primary" keys for the "OE Header" are Order Key or "Cust Prefix|Cust #"

For the Link to work "directly" both files must share a "primary" key.

In this case AR Customer to OE Header there is no "primary" key in common so all the OE Header Records must be examined to find the records of interest.
