When printing a report with the destination option set to file, Word format,.. I pick the destination folder and print. The next time I print that same report (say a batch status report in A/P) to file again, the destination reverts back to the data directory, not the previously selected destination. Is this the designed behavior? Does the user always have to select the destination if not using the data directory? Can the default print to file destination be changed?

Also on the printing topic... when printing cheques which are in tray 3 of the Lexmark laser printer, if the tray number is selected every time using setup - properties - form source then it will print on tray 3 cheque stock. It seems to need to be selected every time though... it doesn't remember the previous setting like Accpac used to. Is this standard Adagio behavior or is there a configuration issue I have missed?

Hi Denis,

At the current time, the Print to File destination for reports is not remembered but always defaults to the data directory.

For printing reports or specifications like AP checks, you can use the File/Options screen to assign a default printer for each document type. In AP, you can assign checks to print to a location defined by any specific Windows printer driver on the workstation. And because these settings are saved by workstation, each station can have individual settings.

The key here is that anything pertinent to the printing (eg. the tray location) needs to be defined on the Windows printer driver. Anything you change via the Setup screen when printing documents is not saved.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I followed your recommendations and it works well. As far as print to file, I found choosing Microsoft document imaging as the default printer and setting the options accordingly has solved a bunch of issues. We now save the documents as MDI compressed images instead of as Word documents. The finished document appears as it does with print to screen, and it can easily be saved in the reports directory of the file server. If a hard copy is required it can easily be printed from there. As a bonus, the hard drive space requirements are minimized. One step closer to a paperless office!
Thanks very much for the great support!
