I accidentally deleted a GL Batch and I was wondering if there is anyway to recover it. I have the batch since I back up daily and I know the easiest thing would probably be to recreate the whole thing but it's a batch with a lot of transactions.

I tried to "unpost" it but of course it was never posted so....

Hi bal

Restore the GL from backup to a different folder. Then launch GL pointed at that folder. You should see the open batch.

Archive the batch under Maintenance | Maintain Archive Batches. The name is unimportant, but remember it. Then exit the backup GL.

Launch the live GL. Go into Maintenance | Maintain Archive Batches and change the Archive batch path to the backup folder. Restore the batch using the name above.

I didn't realize you could restore an archived batch from a different dataset.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have saved me a ton of typing.

I could see the batch in Gridview so I was wondering about exporting the batch from Gridview into Excel, then importing the batch into the ledger.

Would that way work too? (Your way is a lot better.)

Just by the way, the deletion happened because I thought I was deleting a column in the batch view. It seems easier to delete than to restore.

Since you can unpost a batch, I think it would be good to be able to "undelete" too.

Thanks again.

Hi bal,

I'm sure that you've remembered by now that you nee to double-click on the column headings to edit the fields in the grid.

Ledger does ask "Are you sure you want to delete this batch?" before it actually does the deletion. I guess we really need to ask "Are you really sure?"!

Glad you're back to the races...

Yes.
Are you REALLY, REALLY sure?

Maybe two warnings would be nice but an easy way to reverse the deletion would be even better.

I find the editing of column headings a little troublesome. I don't often change the display so I single click, then because it seems to be responding slowly, I keep clicking!

I've had Adagio for a very long time and this is the first time I've mistakenly deleted a batch and now I have a fix so I'm a happy camper!
