OE8.0a/IC8.0b - Process and price items by the pound -always sell items by the case. We have the "Lb" UOM and "Ca" UOM in place with conversion factors. In doing Orders "LB" is the default for the Unit on ORDERED. Is there a way to make it default to "Ca". Maybe a checkmark I am missing?

Hi doswalt,

The default 'shipping' unit of measure that appears for OrderEntry order details is the one set for the 'Pricing Unit of Measure', which you indicated is Lb. This is why Lb is the default. If you want Ca to be the default, you need to edit the item and set the Pricing Unit of Measure to that.

But if you don't want to change the Pricing UOM to Ca, then there is no way to set a default unit of measure at the current time. We could either change IC have to add a new field to the item master for 'default shipping unit', or change OE to include the detail screen for the Entry Template (that currently exists for the order header) and set the default shipping UOM there.

I knew I couldn't find a setting to accomplish this. A couple of orders slipping by at pounds instead of cases means we will have to review closer (charge for 30 lbs instead of 1200...ouch!). With Accpac a box jumped at you to set the shipping UOM from Lb to Ca, but the selection is not as noticeable in Adagio. Maybe I can work with the invoice for pricing to appear per pound, but will have to consider if that would created other problems.

Thanks for the info.........

Hello Doswalt,

Bob Wisener at Dakota software has a complete custom order entry / inventory solution for companies that order by case and price by weight (typical in food distribution).

Accpac wouldn't normally have had an alert about the shipping UofM - was this accomplished through a macro or customization? Also, how did you deal with the varying case weight in the Unit of Measure conversion?

As to the case weight, an item has been created for each of the different case weights that are produced for sale. The case weight is identified in the last two digits of the item number.

As to macro or customization I will have to see the live program or check with Larry @ Syscon (I work for him and every copy of Accpac OE I have seen performs that way and my concern has been helping customers use Adagio not what Accpac does). I am working w/ a copy of the data converting financial specifications, creating crystal reports to replace Report Master reports, and setting up invoices, orders, and such.
Thanks for the reply!
