Hello,

I'm trying to review the MC sample data for a meeting tomorrow but receive the following error when ever I click the codes button: "Unable to open data file default currency, (1213)". After clicking OK I then get two separate "access violation" errors. Tried with both the AL and OE samdata.

MC 8.0C (050930) was pointed to the MC samdata folders and the respective Modules glob file.
ADSPROF looks like this:
[ADS]
Currency=G:\Softrak\OEwin\MCsamdata
Task=G:\Softrak\system

Would appreciate any ideas, my demo is tomorrow morning ? ?

Regards, Pete

Pete:

I tried accessing g:\softrak\oewin\mcsamdata with my ADSPROF set as above. I did not get any finder errors (I'm assuming that is what you meant by the 'code buttons'). Typically I do not find problems like this with the sample data.

I have done extensive work with multi-currency and have experienced this error when pointed invalid MC* files. I believe that this error means that it is not finding the Home currency code (or rate tables).

You did not indicate which OE service pack you have installed. Try re-installing the OE 20060825 service pack and when prompted replace the sample data.

Hi Doug,

The OE is 8.0A (060825) with freshly replaced sample data. Same error occurs with the latest Ledger (AL) MCsamdata as well.

The "Codes" button I'm referring to is the "Codes" button on the Adagio button bar (hover above it and it says "Edit Currency Codes".

OK - Here's an update, on my desktop PC, I decided to try Editing the currency codes from the "Edit" menu instead and it opened but gave me a message about no default code. I put CAD and now the OE MCsamdata is OK but all of the other modules are still giving the original problem even from the Edit menu. Stranger still, my laptop OE data won't work even trying what I did on the desktop and naturally the laptop is the demo machine.

I'm going to try backing up MC*.* for the other MCsamdata folders and then copying the desktop OE MCsamdata files to the laptop.

Still hoping for a better solution/reason for the problem than what I stumbled upon though ???

Thanks, Pete

A client has been receiving the same error messages as Peter - Critical error 1213, followed by access violation. It's happening on AP 8.0A 060626, multiple datasets and multiple workstations, but only sporadically.

I suspect the MC files. All of their datasets are single currency (DOS). They don't own Adagio MC.

I would like to swap in my MC files just to see if that's the problem. Are they the MC files that are located in the \SOFTRAK\SYSTEM folder, or the ones in the \ASP folder?

Peter, how was this resolved for you?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

This was never really resolved from the Sample Data perspective.

Having completely re-installed my Adagio NFRs since then, I am still experiencing the same errors with my Sample Data.

What I have noticed is this: If I launch MC directly and tell it to use the ALwin MCsamdata, I get the above problems. Whereas if I launch AL and open the MCsamdata then use the Adagio menu to launch MC with the ALwin MCsamdata already open I do not get the above errors.

As for the demo, I used a copy of their data and their \ASP\MC*.* files on my laptop and everything went well - including the fact that the sale was made :-)

Regards, Pete

OK - I think we've found the problem.

For unexplained reasons, the Adagio Ledger multi-currency sample data is missing the MCDEFS.LD4 file. Different apps will respond differently to this problem. We think that Steve's 1213 error is something else that manifests itself with the same error.

In any event, we'll fix this in the V8.1 ship of the products.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
