i'm using quick cheque plus for windows 6.1b with adagio ledger 6.6a. the problem i'm having is that I receive a warning message when i try to post the qc batch. the warning message is this: warning, there are no batches ready for posting in the selected range. I've had two other batches that I printed and posted and they worked normally. what could be the problem with this particular batch?

looking forward to your assistance,

Hi Kevin

I have not heard of any issues surrounding the retrieval and posting of batches in Ledger created originally in QCWIN.

You mentioned that you had no problem printing and posting other batches. Could it be that you have the option to 'Require batch print prior to posting' enabled in your Ledger Company Profile - Options screen? If this is so, you must print the batches first before Adagio will allow you to post them.

If this is not the case, have you done a Data Integrity check on the GL data? Have you done one on the original QCWIN data prior to posting those batches in QCWIN?

If this process has been successful up until now, then what has changed? Have you had any power surges, outages or system crashes? Has your station lost it's connection to the Server recently while either posting the original batches in QCWIN or retrieving them into Ledger? If so, this will normally corrupt the data and the DIC should show errors. Do you have a backup prior to posting the batch in QCWIN that you could go back to (i.e. restore QCWIN data from the backup)?

P.S. It shows in your file that you are using the very first release of QCWIN! This product is almost 5 years old now, and I am not sure if it is even Y2K compliant! The fact that you have been running it successfully up until now is great - but certainly it is time for an upgrade? There have been many enhancements and modifications made to QCWIN (now Adagio Checks) since it's first release! It is now a 32-bit Windows application with all the benefits of our other 6.8A version Adagio modules - Backup data, Data Integrity Check and Rebuild right from the File menu! Check it out: Adagio Checks!

darn...do i feel stupid, sorry for bothering you, i reviewed the actual batch, there was a cheque that was not printed....duh, but i did check out the new releases...before moving to adagio, i used accpac 6.1 extensively for designing my finanacial reports...i know 6.1 accpac and 6.6a adagio are compatible...as a matter of fact, i still use 6.1 to design my statements and import these into 6.6a adagio GL...my question is, could this still be done with 6.1 accpac and 6.8 adagio GL...I still have a hard time trying to develop a financial statement format from scratch with adagio....

Hey - don't worry about it! We have all missed the obvious from time to time - it happens!

Regarding your 'hard time' with Adagio financial statement creation - it just so happens that a new version is in the final stages of development that will incorporate major changes (enhancements) to the Financial Reporter in particular! These changes make the creation of new financial statements even easier than before, with added functionality based on suggestions made by our End Users as well as our Partners. There are also of course, fixes to things that did not work as they should.

You are using a version (6.6A) that was close to the first release - version 6.8A incorporated fixes and enhancements to the older versions, but not so much in the Financial Reporter itself. The differences implemented in the soon to be released version 6.8B will be quite noticeable!

We will be showing the new version at our annual AOC conference in May. Based on the information in your file, your Dealer, Tim Fairburn (The Accounting Toolbox) accountt@accountingtoolbox.com will be attending - if you are interested, you should contact him and set up a demonstration sometime after that! He can show you the new Adagio Checks at the same time.

Take care
