Can a client use the OE History module in DOS with Adagio OE/IC/SA/ etc. In OE History for DOS there is a lookup feature that enables the client to review by customer and a specific inventory item. Adagio OE History does not allow this AND Adagio SA is way too slow.

Client would be doing day end in Adagio O/E and all other accounting functions within Adagio.

I am looking at Gridview but the client may not like the way it looks. They really like OE History for DOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Gryder911,

Sorry, dayend in Adagio OrderEntry updates its own history, not Softline's product. GridView pointed at Adagio's order history is fast and the user can choose the fields to display (and calculate margins or profit on the row as well).

Adagio SalesAnalyis has an index by Customer/Item, so I don't understand why it's too slow - you'd need to describe how you are generating the online inquiry.

We have had several requests for customer/item inquiries along the lines of the Softline product. I'm sure you'll see it added sooner, rather than later. We are in the planning stages for the 9.0 releases of all the Adagio modules.

Thanks for considering Adagio!

Hi Gryder911

I have a client who also loves DOS Order History, and I successfully converted them to GridView. The way it looks isn't the problem - you can make it look anyway you want it to, and that means being able to add columns such as unit price, unit of measures, and also report totals. It also has the advantage of being able to export to Excel, or printing, both major disadvantages of Order History.

The key to the speed issue is to use the "join" feature of GridView. It's still not as fast as OE History, but we are talking seconds and not minutes, depending on the number of records it matches.

In addition, Order History doesn't go away just because an ACCPAC Plus client starts using Adagio. It still works.

If you are interested in more details, please have your Adagio consultant contact me at steve@sschwartzcpa.com. I don't generally service clients in Canada unless there is no other option (nothing personal, but there are a lot of consultants there already).

Thank you both for your input.

Am I reading Steve's response correctly that OE History will work with Adagio OE?

Andrew - the client would welcome that feature in the Adagio module (preferably in OE along with the sales history that currently exists.) This client has over 250,000 OE records and the Sales Analysis is terribly slow. Besides there is an internal push to get off of ACCPAC PLUS.

PS They liked Gridview compared to Adagio S/A but still would like to see it in Adagio OE.

Hello Gryder,

Adagio OrderEntry maintains its own history (which is more complete than Softline's poduct and allows re-printing invoices and creating new orders from historical invoices). When it is installed, it will convert the historical data - your client won't lose any information.

Yes, you are reading my response correctly (Andrew did not answer that question).

You are not the only one who would like to see indexed sales inquiries similar to OE History built into Adagio.

In a year or two, when version 9.0 of Adagio has been fully rolled out, OE History will no longer work with Adagio. Hopefully by then our request will be granted.

Hi Steve (& Gryder911),

Just to be clear:

Dayend in Adagio OrderEntry does not update Softline's Invoice History. Dayend in ACCPAC Plus does not update Adagio OrderEntry's historical data files.

Steve's solution uses GridView against the Adagio OrderEntry history files to provide the same inquiries as are available in Softline's Invoice History (I believe).

Hi Andrew

You are correct. However, maybe you don't realize that Softline's Invoice History doesn't need to be updated by any other program - it scans the OEHEAD and OELINE files all by itself whenever requested to do so. So as long as the structure of OEHEAD/OELINE is compatible with ACCPAC Plus, Invoice History will still work.

Didn't know that about order history.

Thanks
