Hi Jim

Could you be more specific and give a relative example - what application is the report based on - what field is the string based on and exactly where and how would you like it "inserted in" your compiled report?

QRWIN, although created with Crystal, does not have the same functionality as newer versions of Crystal. Current release is 4.0.1.5 version, which does not include parameters.

Thanks

Hi Jim

Without you actually visiting the report, I can't see how this would be possible. Don't think a variable using "WhilePrintingRecords" to replace an existing date with an older date would work, but possibly. Maybe try using a formula field for the Document Date field that will do this, instead of focusing on the compile runtime variable.

Don't know Recurring Billing, but my comment would be if you can't reprint previously printed invoices from RB, then can't see how you would accomplish this with QR easily, if at all unless RB keeps a history file somewhere that you can pull invoice data from...thus being able to enter a date or date range at the "runtime" prompt, rather than focusing on the impossibility that the runtime variable will actually insert the date onto the report.

I wonder if a Windows-based macro utility would be able to do this for you? Following is a link to a site that specializes in Windows-based utilities. Haven't tried them, but this is the only suggestion I can come up with unless RB has another table that you can pull past invoices from.

www.windowware.com

"WinBatch Macro Scripting" from Wilson WindowWare.

I will look into further possibilities. Please let us know if you find another solution in the meantime.

Regards

Dear Jim

You can export a report from QRWIN to another application in the following file formats:

Character-separated values
Comma-separated values (csv)
Data Interchange Format (DIF)
Excel 2.1 (XLS)
Excel 3.0 (XLS)
Excel 4.0 (XLS)
Excel 5.0 (XLS)
Lotus 1-2-3 (WK1)
Lotus 1-2-3 (WK3)
Lotus 1-2-3 (WKS)
Quattro Pro 5.0 (WB1)
Record style (columns of values)
Tab-separated text
Tab-separated values
Text
Word for DOS document
Word for Windows document
WordPerfect document

QRWIN cannot "link" the ACCPAC data to an external source, but rather will export the report details into a file in one of the listed formats above. Once you have opened the file in that destination application, you can then manipulate the data, save the file, print it etc.

QuikLink:
If Dbit's RB installs Dynaview tables (dictionaries), QuikLink can pull the data into an Excel workbook. After the first workbook has been formatted the way you want, subsequent updates of this workbook would retain the formatting the way you want.

For more information on QuikLink, go to our website's "Products" page:
http://www.softrak.com/products/Quik_Link_for_Excel.html

Maybe this is the way to go.

Regards
