Hi, Ann,
You need to know what operating system you are using:
For a MS Windows operating system, while logged onto and sitting at the workstation that receives the Opportunistic Locking message, access the SOFTRAK\System folder on the server. Locate the chksys.exe file and run it. If Opportunistic Locking is enabled, it will prompt you to turn it off. This is what you should do.
If you are using Novell, you may need to engage the services of your tech.
Basically with Novell, you must ensure that File Caching, File Commit and Opportunistic Locking all need to be turned off on the Novell client.
Novell Client settings are not checked or set by CHKSYS. This must be done manually in the Novell Client properties. On older Novel Client versions, set Opportunistic Locking to Off; on newer client versions, set File Caching = 0 (which means off).
