In Order Entry, when printing the Saleperson Commission report: I would like to be able to break this report so there is a separate page for each salesperson. Is this possible?

Hi Taylor:

The Commission report can be modified to accomplish that. Doing so requires a module called "Crystal Reports for Adagio". This is a version of Crystal Reports that understands the Adagio database and can be used to create or modify reports.

This means that you either have to own the module or ask your reseller to make the modification for you. Unless you have other reports that you want to create/modify, the latter choice will be more economical.

Hello Don,

That's a good suggestion. I'll make a note of it.

Thanks

Bruce: I do have Crystal Reports for Adagio. How do I go about changing the Commission report? Do I have to build my own, or do I modify the existing one in Adagio? Thanks for your help.

Hi:

If page breaks are your only need, then edit the existing report. In general, the steps are:

-Locate OECOMM.rpt in the OEWIN\StandardRP folder
-Make a Backup copy of it
-Edit the original
-Locate the Salesperson header section/band (Group Header 1)
-Chose Format Section
-Put a check-mark on "New Page Before"
-Save the changes
-Test the report from Order Entry
-If you like the results, make a copy of the completed file

The last step is important because every time you install a Service Pack there is a chance that it will contain a new Commission Report and therefore over-write your changes. If so, you either copy your modified file back or make the same changes to the new, improved version.

Tech Support may have a suggestion about handling that situation better.

Finally, I have to add the warning that Crystal Reports is a complex tool so make sure you are comfortable with it before making extensive changes.

Actually, it is not a good idea to work on the OECOMM.RPT file in \SOFTRAK\OEWIN\StandardRP. You should first make a folder called \SOFTRAK\OEWIN\ModRP (if it doesn't already exist) and copy OECOMM.RPT there.

Then follow the steps Bruce lists, using the copy in the ModRP folder.

Hello Taylor,

Please follow Steve's advice about placing the modified report in the ModRP subdirectory. This way, a service pack will not overwrite your carefully customized report. Adagio always checks for a report in the ModRP directory before loading and running the one in StandardRP. This is our standard strategy for properly managing customizations to the Adagio standard reports.

Steve:

Thanks for the correction. Something in the back of my mind at midnight told me there was a better answer and I knew it wasn't CustomRP but couldn't remember ModRP. Softrak thinks of (almost) everything!

Hi Bruce,

CustomRP is used to store completely custom reports that you want to appear on the reports menu. If you store the RPT's in that directory they will be visible to all Adagio users. If you want security on a custom report, then store it in a subdirectory under CustomRP that has the same name as the group of users entitled to see the report.
