On Details header, if I forget to enter the quantity ordered on an item and do a post. It?ll automatically invoice that item as ?zero? quantity. Is there a way either it alert me on zero quantity before posting the order or not to invoice any zero quantity. Thank you.

Look in your Company Profile on the System Options tab. Is the Quantity Shipped on Orders box checked? If not, check it. It should allow you to post an order if any lines Shipped value is equal to zero.

Hi Tech Support

I don't think you read HZN's question properly. The problem is when the user forgets to enter a quantity in the ordered field. I agree with HZN that Adagio's treatment is not ideal.

Certainly the suggestion for a prompt has been recorded, thank you. In the meantime, there are ways to suppress 0 quantities from invoices or not and ways to still be able to edit the order and adjust it.

Suppressing the zero quantity item from printing on an invoice is not the issue, although that is a nice feature. I don't think there is a way to edit or adjust the detail line once you post the order if the detail line was accidentally entered with zero quantity ordered. The detail line has a status of "completed". But feel free to prove me wrong; I am not 100% sure on this.

Indeed if an order was posted with 0 quantity ordered, it is considered a complete line and you cannot edit it at a later time to correct it. I believe the last response about suppressing on invoices was simply to ensure that the printed invoice didn't have the zero item and be confusing to the person receiving it.

Editing the quantity ordered or back-ordered of an item to zero and posting will set the status to Complete, regardless if it's the initial posting of the order or an edit of an existing order. Is there a desired way to in some cases allow re-editing and in other cases post as Complete.

Yes, the desired way is to not set the line as complete until the order is invoiced (not necessarily that line, but any line). At that point, the user had the opportunity to fix the error, and didn't.

OK and one more question. What if the quantity for an item will not be shipped (ie that portion of the order is cancelled). Typcially setting the qty ordered or backordered to zero completes the line (as above). But if some item qty will never be invoiced, how should the line be completed?

Answered in my prior reply. It will be completed once any line on the order is invoiced.

Thanks Softrak Tech Support and Steve Schwartz for the replies. What I am thinking of is if there is some sort of pop up alert when quantity is zero (like the alert if the unit price is zero) to confirm whether I want to continue before posting the order.
Thank you.
