About 1 month ago I posted a query about the new Label Printing feature in OE 8.0A (060825) which was grayed out & not available on our computers. Unfortunately I did not receive any replies but the solution was easy but not obvious.

Not mentioned in the Enhancements & Revisions notes was the fact that the Security Group Setup created menu access boxes for OE - Print Shipping Labels and this box by default was turned off unless Permit All was checked. This grayed out the Print Labels button in OE.

A number of other boxes in the Security Group Setup were also created and turned off by default including Email setup. At the same time, Email setup was modified to include a Request Receipt box which was turned on by default. This was partially mentioned in the Enhancements & Revisions notes.

On a subject related to label printing, do not attempt to simply install a new font to produce US Post Office zip code bar codes on your labels. There are fonts available with prices ranging from free to $500 per computer but the result is not satisfactory because the US Post Office requires zip-code bar codes begin and end with an additional tall bar and include a check digit as the last bar code digit which must be calculated.
