We have set up pricing option to be "mark up on cost by percentage". However, in printing a price list I noticed that there were no prices. Only the options A, B, C, D, E and the percentages. I experimented with one product by putting in a standard cost and noticed when I printed a price list for this single product that the prices were shown correctly.
I understood cost to be most recent cost. Our costs change with every receipt. Is there an option to have mark up on recent cost.

Hello CPS,

I believe, alhough I might be mistaken, that the markup is based on most recent cost. This field will be $0.00 until some inventory has been received.

Markup is based on Standard Cost, or the 'markup cost' if you are using an alternate price list. This is why things showed up correctly when you added a standard cost to the item.

There is no option to markup on Most Recent Cost.

I knew there was a reason I don't work in the technical support department.

Thanks!

(I have made a note of the suggestion though.)

If you need to have the pricing adjust to the varying changes in Most Recent Cost, you could set up a simple export of item number & most recent cost and an import of item number and standard cost. Run this periodiclaly and the pricinig will be updated.

Create an Export Items template that only exports the Item Number and Most Recent Cost. Either CSV or Excel formats are OK. Also create an Import Items template that only imports the Item Number and Standard Cost. Set this import template to read the same file from the other Export, and also set to 'Overwrite records' but not 'Add new records'.

Every time you want to 'move' the values of the Most Recent Cost into the Standard Cost box, simply run the Export to create the file, then run the Import to do the updating. This can be done as often as desired, though you wouldn't want anyone in your Inventory or OrderEntry data will doing this.

The same process can be accomplished with Alternate Price List codes, but you'd have to include the Price List field as part of the export and import templates.
