So far this morning I have received two emails from clients:

Email 1:
We have added additional security for our network and are making adjustments for the operation of our programs.

As noted below, the security software identified a dll file in Adagio as malware.

The file is ADFiler64.dll.
Can you confirm if that is a legitimate file or a malware?

Email 2:
I can’t get to Gridview from A/R on any workstation. The message we get is “Can’t find ADFILER64.DLL”. Do you know where this file belongs? I could possibly get it back from a backup.

(me again)
So apparently ADFiler64.dll is throwing up red flags.

What do I advise my clients who report this?

Steve

Hi Steve,

I realize you probably want to hear from Softrak on this, but I would advise the client to mark the file as safe in their security software and remove it from quarantine if that's what the software did. Also, it would be good to know what software they are using so we can be on the lookout for this issue.
As you probably know, ADFiler64.dll belongs in X:\SOFTRAK\system\x64

I had a client report the same ADFiler64.dll error today. It had in fact been quarantined by their AV, which is Bitdefender.

Steve,
Thanks for letting us know. The ADFiler64.dll is the x64 version of ADFiler.dll and used by the x64 programs (Gridview / FinRep).

Dan,
You are correct.

We have had that issue come up today as it pertains to running the financial statements:

"Adagio Financial Reporter requires adfiler64.dll 1, 1, 22, 257 or later."

So you are saying this is AV related and to mark as safe with their AV?

They run all other modules (including Ledger) without issue only on the financial reporter. FWIW.

Scott:

Note that FR and GridView use the 64-bit version; other modules don't. That's why the error can occur in FR but not anywhere else.

Thanks Bruce but how do you fix this then?

Reinstall Ledger without latest service pack?

Issue has arose with the latest service pack installed.

Hi Scott,

Just like I said earlier in this thread, you need to mark the ADFiler64.dll as "safe" in your AV software and take it out of quarantine if that's what your AV software did.

Dan as you mentioned it appears the culprit must be AV since the file was not physically there. Once copied back into that directory all good.

Just curious as to why AV would kybash this file. Not sure if this is related to the latest SP (220504) or some MS update that has triggered this?

Anyway ADFiler file is backed up in the event this happens again.

Thanks for your help.
