Can you have a set amount of lines appear on an invoice specification printout regardless of how many lines are actually in the invoice?

We have a request to generate an invoice and if there is one line or 10 lines on the invoice the resulting invoice printout they want to show 14 detail lines.

So for example if there were 10 detail lines on the invoice they still want to show 14 detail lines so the bottom 4 would be blank.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

Just to follow up on the previous post the invoice is laid out as such where there is a line separating each detail line.
So in the above example of 10 detail lines in the system it would print the first 10 detail lines and the last four detail lines would be blank obviously but separated by a vertical line on the printout.

Again hope this makes sense.

Hi JWH,

Though there is no explicit setting to have a specific number of detail lines on an OE specification, you can configure a spec to print the number of detail lines you want. It involves taking the height of the output (say 11" as the height of the piece of paper, less the non-printing area at the top and bottom margin), then subtract the section heights of the page header and footer. This will leave a specific area reserved for the detail section. If you divide this by the section height of the Detail section, that will give you the number of details that will print on the form. You would have to play a bit in determining the optimal section heights for the header, detail and footer sections. And this might change depending on the chosen printer driver (paper or PDF) so that might need to be tweaked at the client site.

For inserting vertical lines that extend all the way through the detail section, the correct way to place these is to insert the vertical line with the top positioned in the Page Header section. Then right-click on the line and choose the property Extend Thru Detail. This will print the line from header to footer, regardless of the number of details that exist on the transaction. So the line will print in the blank area between the last detail and the page footer.
