Here's the most straighforward way to do this:

• Make a copy of your G/L files in another directory, specifically for this project.
• Create a new shortcut pointing at that copy (change the desktop colour and company name to make sure you don't mistakenly do current work in this data.
• Make sure that the "Unpost" function is enabled in the company profile.
• Unpost each of the batches you have posted in the G/L going back to that date.
• Once you have "unwound" the activity beck far enough, you're going to have to decide what transactions need to be posted to get up to that date. Don't forget you can copy transactoins from one batch into another.
• You'll need to post any accruals if you want the statements to reflect a partial month wage expense, or anything else of that nature.

A note about unposting GL batches.

In order to be able to successfully unpost GL batches, you must make sure that all of the GL accounts are set up as detail, and not consolidated, type accounts. Changing the type to detail will only allow subsequent batches to be unposted.

Also, you cannot unpost a batch that was posted using the "Post to prior year" function.

If you meet these criteria, Andrew's method should work for you.
