Hello,

Working on a small project, we are moving towards a paperless office environment and are currently trying to deploy some software that will handle document management. One of the challenges we have hit is integrating the Adagio ODBC in with the software. We have setup the ODBC on a new Server 2012 R2 install that then links to the Adadio database that is located on a network drive (UNC path) to a file server (also 2012 R2) in the same network.

Adagio works and we can use the ODBC connector on an MS Office application (such as excel) to pull data out of Adagio. The problem we bump into is when we use the document management app, the program just locks up and doesn't give us any errors.

Hoping someone on here has more experience with the ODBC and troubleshooting, would like to find a way to test the ODBC and/or increase the logging so we can try to see what the hangup is.

Beyond connecting to Excel you will need to contact your Adagio dealer for assistance with odbc.

Did you know that Adagio is coming out with an integrated document management system?

Create a File DSN that selects ONLY the tables that your application needs. If you try and load all the tables and fields in Adagio you will blow an ODBC buffer somewhere.

Use the Adagio Data Dictionary Exporter to find the names of the tables you need.

When you create a good DSN, your Excel Test should only offer to link to those tables.

You can also test your connection string using \Softrak\System\OCSTEST.EXE.

Copy and paste your connection string into the text box and Click "Test" to see whether the connection string is correctly formed. Also, make sure that you are specifying the correct UserId and Password for the data you are connecting to.

And make sure you are creating your File DSN's using the correct 32 or 64 bit ODBC administrator.

Edit Reason: Added caveat about 32/64 bits.

If you are connecting with Adagio using an UNC path, the ADSPROF.XXX should also be pointing at UNC paths.
