When performing Inventory Period End today the system locked up. After using Task Manager to close the locked Inventory Module and entering Inventory again we noticed that it actually did a period end 3 times!

The lock was our fault, as someone was still using adagio during the Period End processing. I have included a pic of what resulted. Is there a way to delete a month from the history?

Hi Nick

The short answer is no. However, you may be in luck because you CAN change the period end dates (in the Sales History tab of Profile). Changing the period end dates doesn't recalculate the figures, though, but (this part I am not 100% sure of) as long as your first and second 6/30 buckets are all zero, then you can change them to 7/31 and 8/31 right now, and you should be OK. Just don't do another period end until September. The June, July and August activity will just flow into the proper buckets.

If I am wrong about this, then there is a program in the ACCPAC Plus world called Inventory Tools which CAN recalculate the figures in the buckets as long as you haven't purged your IC History transaction file. If you don't own that program, you can send your IC data to someone who does, like me, and they can do the recalculation for you quite easily.

Thanks, in theory that sounds great, but I don't think that the inventory data will fall into the appropriate places. I believe it will all accumulate in the "current bucket" and at the end of september all three months of data will fall in that period, leaving the previous two empty.

Moving the data after that may be an option though. I'll have to consider that.

Another question: Will this effect anything besides this sales history tab?

I used to think what you said about it all accumulating in the current period bucket, but try it out on a backup of your data, and you'll see that it goes into the proper buckets. I have one or two clients who, upon beginning a new year, immediately advance all of the period end dates by one year, and then they don't have to remember to do Period End at exactly the right time.

However, the system is not smart enough to recalculate if the period doesn't exist at the time of posting. So don't think that just by changing the date to 7/31 and 8/31 after you have posted July or August activity that the figures that show in 6/30 will somehow get adjusted.

Nothing else is affected besides the sales history tab.

I attempted to do this, however I recieve an error message anytime I try to change one of the periods to a date past today's date.

Hi Nick Sciabica,

Have you tried "logging in" with a date far enough in the future?

Andrew is correct, that is what you need to do to get past that error message.

Just thought I would let you know that everything accumulated in the "current bucket" at the end of september However I have begun to manualy move the figures, as I do have the correct number of buckets with the correct dates, though this is a daunting task.
