Good morning,

I just finished upgrading AL to the latest version 9.2B, and received this warning.
Wondering if others have experienced this, and what needs done?
It says file was renamed because it could not be installed due to Locking or Rights issue; I do know that there are no permission issues.
File name in warning is ~GLH00a8.tmp 05/17/16 17:10:28 [10336616]

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike

That's a sign of an incomplete installation. It might be from this upgrade or from one in the past.

Check the size of the file and compare it to the other files in the Ledger folder. If it is almost the same size as another file in that folder, you are halfway to figuring out what to do. But the other half is more complicated.

If you are experiencing problems running Ledger or printing financials, you might be better off re-installing from scratch.

Steve

After installing the Ledger upgrade to 9.2B, I couldn't open file from Adagio Financial Reporter, but I could from going into softrak/Ledger/LedgerFinRep.exe. And also, we have 2 users in the computer. My user does that and the other user can open it normally. What is this weird thing happening? Is there some kind of permission issue in the upgrade?

Mike:

Steve has given you the correct answer. Most likely this is an incomplete or incorrect install of the upgrade.

A clean reinstall is the only solution.

It is me Harpo who made the last comment. I did reinstall it 3 times and it's still the same. I can only run Financial Report from its folder softrak/Ledger/LedgerFinRep.exe, not Adagio program itself.

What happens when you select Maintenance | Maintain Financial Reports from the Adagio Ledger menu?

What happens when you select Reports | Print Financial Reports from the Adagio Ledger menu?

What happens when you select Reports | Print Financial Statements | SomeStatement from the Adagio Ledger menu?

Harpo:

What happens when you try to run the Financial Reporter from within Ledger? Is there an error message? Is the option greyed out? Does Ledger appear to lock up? Do you have 2 monitors on your computer?

Andrew

The Ledger opens up. The problem is when I open my file, it gives me this message.
"Adagio Financial Reporter has stopped working"

My other user is able to open our file normally. It's just my user. I'm the Administrator and I never had this problem before.

Bruce:

Yes, I do have 2 monitors, but the error is what I mentioned above.

And also when I check the Adagio System Status, my user gives me this error. The other user doesn't have this error.

Hello Harpo,

I do not understand how your setup is generating a System Status warning and your co-worker's is not. An Adagio Consultant is going to have to review your installation to be able to make sense of this.

Sorry.

We don't have Adagio Consultant. We never had problem with the software before. How do we get one?

There may be a Consultant tab under Help | About or you can choose one from the Softrak Dealer Page or contact our Customer Service department at 1-800-663-9798.

Adagio is compatible with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR ADAGIO LEDGER V9.2B UPGRADE:
• Requires these versions (if used):
• Lanpak 9.2B or higher
• MultiCurrency 9.2A or higher
• DataCare 9.2A or higher
Note: Installing Ledger 9.2B may cause a workstation install to be required for other Adagio 9.2A modules on other stations if no Adagio module dated 2015.12.15 or later has been installed. Refer to the Release Notes or view the Readme during installation for details.

I don't fully understand this. Did I miss installing something? We only use Ledger and Payables.

It is so frustrating that we need to pay extra for Consultant to solve the upgrade that you made. Aren't you Adagio people are the experts? I said it is running, but not from within the Ledger. So, it seems that the Open file is not properly link to the actual file when it's from the Ledger.

Hello,

I understand that technology can be frustrating sometimes. Yes, we know a lot about Adagio and how it should be installed, and we train our Resellers how this should be done, in the same way that Ford trains their mechanics how to fix one of their cars. People who have knowledge that they have paid to learn, either directly (by becoming an accountant) or indirectly (by working with a product for many years) generally have to charge for their time in order to meet their mortgage payments.

We cannot tell from the Forum what LEDGER.EXE you are running, since that is controlled by the shortcut. We cannot tell if you and your co-worker are launching the same EXE (since we cannot review their shortcuts either).

Doug Dickie, Bruce Gardner, Steve Schwartz have all provided their expertise and time without charge so far. You are welcome to continue to post answers to their questions and perhaps get your problem resolved with just an investment in your time and patience.

Again, I CAN open our file when I run the Financial Reporter from the folder (softrak/Ledger/LedgerFinRep.exe). It work normally.
But.... when I go to the Ledger program, click on Financial Reporter (and all other ways to open it), it opens. When I click open... it does not open the file folder where our Income Statement file is. It give me a message of "Adagio Financial Reporter has stopped working."

As a work around solution, I just created a shortcut for LedgerFinRep.exe to my Desktop and it runs perfectly. But ofcourse, that's not how it's built. It's not convenient.

Sounds like your Ledger shortcut is launching a different LEDGER.EXE in a different Folder than the one you are clicking on when you just double-click LedgerFinRep.EXE in the Softrak\Ledger Folder. You should carefully inspect the Ledger shortcut and also your drive mappings.

I even opened the ledger (LEDGER.EXE) from folder as well and it gives me the same problem.
How do you explain though that when I switch to the other user, the program runs perfectly fine. So it looks like there's a user restriction.
I even access that user folder when I am in my user and it didn't work. So, by doing all these troubleshooting, it looks like my user is causing problem.

You think upgrading to the next Windows version would solve this? Windows 8 maybe?

The reason for that error in ChkSys is that the file SSIPRT32.DLL found in your C:\Windows\System32 directory (or more likely C:\Windows\SysWow64 since this is a 32 bit file) does not match the expected file located in the 'backup' location of \Softrak\System\Win32. The file dated Jan 20, 2016 was installed by Ledger 9.2B, but for some reason, the Ledger workstation setup was not able to write this file to your Windows directory. Often this has to do with user rights to the Windows folder.

In order for that ChkSys error to go away, the files have to match between those two locations.

I would be very surprised to find out that this has anything to do with your issue regarding opening a financial statement. Unless it is another symptom of the same root cause.

If the problem is specific to attempting to open a new financial statement, once the Financial Reporter has already opened successfully, perhaps this could be related to changes made in Adagio to windows that use an Explorer browse window, as Adagio determines whether it is being used in the office (in your case) or in the Cloud. There should be no problem, as long as everything installed correctly. This is something that could be determined with your Adagio consultant.

This is actually the problem. Financial Reporter opens successfully. The problem is when I hit Open, it does not open the folder where our financial statement file is. And this is when I use the Ledger software, both the shortcut and opening the Ledger.exe from the folder.

But, if I go directly to softrak/Ledger/LedgerFinRep.exe.... it works normally.

How can I send a file? I had it checked by our computer specialist and found some error in the Adagio program.

To indicate the solution for Harpo's issue for others reading this thread, the problem turned out to be a Windows user security rights issue. When that was resolved, the Financial Reporter problem no longer occurred.
