I'm trying to import invoices into Adagio Invoices.
Using the "T2" code in the Text section, I'm trying to import text lines that are up to 60 characters.

Only the first 15 characters are being read from the import file. I'm getting no import errors. The text setting is for 10 lines of 75 characters.

I've found that, when importing text fields for item lines, that if the first item line is 20 characters, it only reads that many characters for succeeding lines - so on the 'New Invoice' line, I make the text lines all 75x "#" - but this trick doesn't work for the invoice text.

Que?

Tony:

What file format are you using?

I did a quick test by Exporting an Invoice to Excel 2.1 format and then importing it back in. The first line of the Text lines was about 50 characters and it imported it properly.

However, if I go back into Excel and drag the column separator to narrow the column, then the only part that will be imported is the visible part of the cell. If you are using Excel, make certain that the columns show the full width of the text.

I'm using .csv files - the invoices are being made up in an external program.

OK, this is weird, but I think I have a workaround.

The first record of the first invoice in an import file MUST contain all text fields.
Each text field MUST have a non-space character in the first and last places in the field. I'm going to test to see if something innocuous can be found (ideally a character other than chr(32) which still displays as a space or blank).
Following records must have text fields at full length, but may be padded with spaces.

This situation seems to exist for all imported text fields.

With reference to the workaround - the "Non-break space" character (Alt+0160) works as a non-displayed, non-space character to use at the beginning and end of the text field.
