When attempting to print a detail listing an error message keeps coming up about logon failed and a vendor code. See attached.

I haven't encountered this error before. Please help.

Thanks

HI Ishana,

The problem is that the ODBC connection for the Crystal report is failing, due to something not installing correctly.

This particular Error 160 has been reported quite a number of times in the past 6 months since the 9.2A versions have been rolling out. One typical culprit is that the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder does not have the required MC Visual C++ Runtime file, as it didn't already exist from the Windows install, and Adagio Ledger did not install it either. These are named MSVCR###.DLL, where ### is a version for this file such as 100 or 110. Sometimes you can copy missing files from another workstation, or run an update to install 32/64 bit versions of the Visual C++ runtimes or either/both 2010 and 2012 versions.

Reasons for this vary, such as the version of Windows used, workstation installation rights, etc and there isn't an answer of 'do this particular thing and that will solve the error every time'. This likely will involve some trial and error before the solution presents itself.

Other consultants may wish to share their experiences in getting the Error 160 and what has solved the problem for them.

If that doesn't work it may be a rights issue. In my client's case, even after reinstalling Crystal, the error persisted because for some reason the user profile did not have rights to the MSVCR1?0_clr400.dll files it needed.

My client's IT person had to recreate the user profile on the network with full rights and then take away the rights he didn't want the user to have.

If the Crystal install doesn't fix it, the quickest solution would be to try re creating the user profile.

Hi, Ishana,

We haven't heard back from you. Has your Error 160 been resolved? If not, let us know please so we can help.

Also let us know:

- if they are able to print a File | User Preferences, Listing report without error. If, as I suspect, they can, the Crystal component is okay and it is the ODBC connection they are experiencing difficulty with.

- if the workstation is running a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system.
