Can anyone tell me all of the reasons a Sales Analysis sales report for all customers would yield a different total than the OE Sales Report?

I am trying to create a SA report that simply shows all customers' sales amounts by month. Unfortunately when I sum it by rep, it differs from the Sales report. I have already accounted for any customers that may have changed reps mid-month.

My Excel Direct export is not always reliable, and I will verify that is not the issue.

Can anyone else recommend what else to check?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Off the top of my head, here are some reasons:
  • SalesAnalysis records can be edited after the fact.
  • You can change the salesperson on an order.
  • A Ship-to can have a different salesperson than the main record.
  • There's an error in the Filter logic.
  • The date ranges are not the same.
  • One report includes taxes and/or miscellaneous charges, and the other doesn't.

Hi,
Does the grand totals match or not? Or is the issue, that the allocations by salesreps are different?

We normally do all sales reports using Gridview working off the Sales Analysis data and find these views quite reliable. With Gridview running on the Sales Analysis data, and linking to other data in Adagio, you can do amazing analysis and reporting.

We do not normally use the existing sales analysis reports or the OE sales analysis reporting, so we cannot comment or suggest why they might be different.

Best,
Brian

What is a good way to explain the difference of Gridview reporting vs. SalesAnalysis?

Hi Eva

There can be 100 reasons for the difference.

First you have to figure out which one is "right". Then try to find an example of where the other one is wrong and that might lead to an explanation.

Here's an incomplete list:
  • Different Filters
  • Include / Exclude taxes
  • Include / Exclude Misc charges
  • Misc Charges get Qty 1
  • Changed dates on transactions / back dated transactions

The list is endless and, as Steve said, the first thing that needs to be decided is which one is "right".
