Period End processing would be required if you want to clear completed transactions to History each month. This allows statements to be less cluttered. Also, Period End Processing resets the MTD statistics on each customer.

If you do not want to clear completed transactions every month, and if you don't use the MTD customer statistics, then Period End is not a required function. But this decision is up to you.

If you do not run Period End but do print statements you can select the option to print only outstanding transactions so that all of the older transactions are not included.

Sorry, the correct term is PTD for Period to Date. This is a summary of the PTD transactions which is reset to zero by running Period End.

You can see the statistics by viewing a customers record and selecting the Statistics tab.
