Is there a function or add-on to import multiple files at once in OE to create orders? I receive multiple files a day from our customer, they are not combined in one file and currently have to upload one at a time.

thank you,

Hi Vickie

There is no special function or add-on in Adagio to import multiple files. The trick is to merge them into one file.

What format are the files in? Does each file have a Header row? If they are in Excel or CSV format then it would be fairly easy for someone with a little programming skill to write a program to do the merge - actually Excel would be the easiest, I think.

Thank you Steve, files are csv and I've managed to do the merge with a batch file, works great. My next question is : Is it possible to automate printing the orders that have just been imported?

thanks,

How automated do you want?

If the order numbers are in a range, you can easily print them all by selecting Order Entry | Print Order Confirmations (or Print Picking Slips), and entering the range of order numbers.

Is that not good enough?

It would be for any orders that I just imported, which would be in a range, however I don't know how many orders I'm loading and what the range is. I will run the import overnight and it would be great to have the work orders printed by the time we come in the next morning.

Thank you for your help,
Vickie.

Hi Vickie

I'm assuming you are talking about a lot of orders - 100 orders would take less than 5 minutes to print on a fast printer and there's no need to do that in advance.

I would be leery of letting a computer print out lots of paper unattended - the chance for a problem is too high. Why not just print the whole range when you come in the next morning to PDF (which is extremely fast) and then you can print the PDF file to printer as needed?
