After successfully closing other ledgers this year, I find the last GL cannot be closed because the consolidate, create, & close menu items under "maintenance" are gray (not active).

All batches from other Adagio modules are retrieved and posted. The retained earnings account is properly defined. Ledger has been backed up. Next fiscal year was created in January 2014 and has been functioning well.

Any assistance is appreciated.

What version and release date of Ledger are you using?

Does your data have any errors when you run Data Integrity Check?

I'm using version 9.1A

release 1.12.54.3087

data integrity check was run with department errors, which were fixed. A second run completed with no errors.

Menu items are still grayed out.

Within that dataset, the security group your Adagio userID belongs to may not have access to those menu functions. Also, if the Next Year has already been created as you say it has, you cannot Create Next Year again.

If the Allow GL Consolidation option in the Company Profile is disabled, you will not see the Consolidate option in the Maintenance menu.

Thanks for the insight ... it turns out that by logging in as system administrator we were able to close the ledger ... strangely, several other ledgers were closed without logging in as system administrator.

Security permissions are assigned company by company. Therefore what a user has rights to do in company A can be entirely different from what they can do in company B.
