Good afternoon,

Windows 7, Adagio Ledger 9.1A

In my GL, when I try to view the transactions for a GL code, the screen "blinks", but then nothing opens. Could there be something making it glitch? (screenshot below)
I had something similar prior in FX Reporter where I had to delete a particular file to fix.
Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Michael,

Adagio Ledger 9.1A has an index file that is used for locating posted transactions. If this index file has a problem, that could be the cause of not being able to view a transaction.

On the Posting/Reports tab of the Company Profile, there is an option to 'Auto build TX inquiry index' - what does your company have? If enabled, then posting a batch in Ledger will build the index. If not enabled, then it is rebuilt when you access View Transactions. Perhaps you could try disabling this option (temporarily) if it is enabled, and try again.

This index file is likely the same file that you had to deal with for the Financial Reporter, as it also uses the index for the drill-down.

Thanks ... I tried this turning this both off and on again, and it didn't fix my issue.

Hello Mike,

What version (see Help | About) are you running? Is it doing this for all accounts, or just for one of them?

If you open the Sample Data (x:\Softrak\Ledger\Samdata), does it do it for that data?

I reinstalled the application, and this did not fix the issue.

Hello Mike,

Are you clicking the "View" button or Double clicking the account? If one, then try the other. After clicking the View button (say), count to "10 Mississippi" and see if the dialog opens.

Yes, I've tried both ways, and have left it for up to 30minutes. It seems to just freeze the whole program until I hit ESC, and doesn't open the transaction detail.

ps. Its not "view" that I'm clicking, but rather Transactions in the "View Transactions/Budgets". All other buttons in this area work as expected.
If its of interest, I could get someone remoted in to my computer to see it live.

Thanks,
Mike

Michael:

OK, that's a slightly different scenario than first described. The Transaction window is opening off your monitor. Do you have a 2nd monitor? Turn it on. If not, go to Ledger's main screen and choose "Window" then "Original Sizes". That will reset all the Ledger windows to their original size and position.

Thank you Bruce and Andrew.

This did fix the issue as was described (with screenshot) in my first post.
I appreciate your help!

Hi Mike,

I'm glad to hear that everything is OK, and normally we LOVE screenshots. However, if you look at the screenshot in isolation, it is really just a shot of the View Transactions/Budgets grid. It's very hard to take a screen shot of something not happening. wink

Are you by chance using a laptop that is sometimes docked with two screens and sometimes not? We have discovered that Adagio will put the details listing on a non-existent screen in that scenario.

The easy fix is to hold down the Windows key and press the left or right arrow key to "move" that screen.
