I noticed in creating a group whose only rights were "Print Financial Reports" that it is possible for users in that group to change the reports templates and save those changes.

Should this possibly be changed in a future Service pack?

Hi Ralph,

I wasn't able to duplicate your scenario with version 8.0A of Adagio Ledger. I created a security group that had full rights with the exception of Maintain Financial Reports, attached a user to that group, then logged in as that user. I correctly did not have access to the Maintain Financial Reports menu, and could only use the Toolbar or the menu choice under the Reports menu, which launched the Print mode of the Financial Reporter.

I also tried a security group that only had access to Print Financial Reports and nothing else, with the same results.

Most of the buttons were disables, such as save, paste, cut, add/delete rows, and many more. Is this the case for you? If not (and it says Print rather than Maintain at the top) then please post here the version of the Financial Reporter (from Help, select About Financial Reporter and look for the numeric version, such as 1.14.47.825).

We are unaware of errors in this version, though we did address similar issues in a much older release (towards the end of 2002, version 6.8B). If you can also let us know what edits you were able to do and if the save button was active, that would be helpful.

Hi Ralph,

Just a further clarification.

A user with "print only" rights is still able to make changes to the financial statement that are "soft" in nature - ie. change the department or fiscal period - as these changes can be undone with the click of a mouse.

We saw no need to prevent changes of this type being made.
