I'd like to correct my earler statement: PrintTool uses only Crystal 7.0 functions. It does NOT support version 8.5. Sorry for any confusion.

We don't go there with PrintTool.

We have for years used an alternative shareware Crystal Distribution Expert (for Crystal Reports) that does the same as creating a runtime executable for the crystal report as a desktop icon. Although, I'm dating myself, this works similar to the runtime version of a report when Crystal was Quik Reports for Windows. So it in effect creates a compiled runtime version of a crystal report. This works for XP, W7 but we have not tested on W8.1. We don't see why it wouldn't work.

This doesn't function as a CustomRP, but can work for the functions that you are describing by putting the necessary reports for specific users in a folder for all to use on specific user desktops.

We showed this years ago at AOC, and although I think the link for this shareware has disappeared, we still have a copy of the install that we can send to you. All of our clients using Crystal, use some elements of this useful utility.
