I've been using this module for almost 6 months and have never received this message. The file itself is only 75k. The message states that it cannot exceed 65k. Thoughts?

Thank you.

Hi Lisa:
BankRec 8.1E with the November service pack applied will give you that message. You aren't doing anything different or wrong. I encountered this recently myself. The cause is that one of the banks started to supply a non-standard OFX file (it had no end-of-line characters). Without those end-of-line characters, the Bank Reconciliation import process would fail because it found one VERY long line that exceeded 65,000 bytes. Therefore to prevent that problem, BankRec now checks the file-size.

Softrak R&D is looking for a better solution but in the meantime, you should see if your bank can provide a comma-separated file format (CSV). If so, download that file, create an import template that matches and you will be fine. You may need to ask your dealer for help with the import template.

Hi Lisa,

Can you email me a copy of the file you cannot import?

Thanks.

I just encountered this with my client's OFX file that worked fine in September. Do I have to switch to CSV?

Hi Dan

From the BankRec 9.2A Release Note
Quote:
  • BankRec 8.1E (2013.11.27) corrected the message BankRec displayed if you attempted to import a bank reconciliation file in OFX format where a block within the file exceeded a size limit. This happened for some banks that removed CR/LFs from their version of the file. However, this caused a problem with size limits of the file that could be imported. The limit has now been removed and most or all large files can now be imported.

I attempted this import in BankRec 9.2A and it failed. Then attempted the same import in BankRec (2014.01.17) and it was successful. Perhaps 9.2A broke it?

Can you send me the BR files and the one you are trying to import?

Thanks.

Yes, indeed. This is broken in BankRec 9.2A.

We'll address this sooner, rather than later, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

A Hot Fix has been released to fix this issue in 9.2A.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
