Hi,

After pressing the PDF view button on the Display History tab in Order Entry, the focus remains on the display history window. (Didn't think it worked at first until I noticed a second OE window on my task bar).

Thanks

OrderEntry 8.1F (130708)

That's how we want it to work. We don't want you to have to tab back to OE to look at another document.

Hi Andrew,

Are you sure? I want to see an invoice so I highlight it in display history and then click the View PDF button. The pdf of the invoice opens but the focus immediately returns to the display history window. Then when I move off of the highlighted invoice, the focus returns to the PDF viewer (it's window now appears with the the previously highlighted invoice). If I'm in display history to see an invoice, I would like the viewer window to be the main focus after selecting the invoice and pressing view PDF.

In AR, under Vendors>Transactions, when I select an invoice and click the PDF viewer button, the focus remains on the PDF viewer window (the expected behaviour).

Why two different behaviours for what is essentially the same operation - viewing an invoice?

Thanks

Hi Mike,

You're right - the behaviour is different. It shouldn't be.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Hi Andrew,

If you're going to be changing things, I vote for the AR behaviour.

Hi, Mike,

There is a new button in the toolbar of the PDF Viewer. It's the 5th button from the left and immediately right of the vertical Fit to Page button.

When you hover your cursor over this button, what does it say? 'Allow overlap'?

If so, click the button to change the setting to 'Stay on top'. When you close the viewer and open it the next time, it will remain on top of the grid (rather than immediately hiding behind OE). You are still able to click on other documents in the grid and the viewer will either display the contents of the document if they exist, or be blank indicating *** No document to view *** , until you close the viewer.

The other behavior has been reported to R&D for you.

Good Afternoon,

That was pretty simple - worked like a charm.

Thank you

I would like to make a suggestion that the Print button should be disabled when "Stay on top" is selected. I went to print an invoice I was viewing and the screen locked up. The print dialogue popped up but the Viewer retained the focus (I could only see the print dialogue by hovering over the task bar.) I had to close the dialogue window from the task bar and then select "Allow overlap" in the viewer. Everything was fine then.

Also with viewer, while I was trying to figure out what the problem was (I had forgotten that I had "Stay on top" on), I was playing around to get it to work. I selected an invoice in display history, and selected the viewer. After looking at the invoice, I minimized the viewer while the invoice was still loaded (my mistake), and selected 'Print' on the Display history tab. I then clicked on 'Print' which resulted in an access error (can't print to a document that's already open) and the screen freezing on Viewer (with no invoice now displayed). It required me going to the task bar and ending the task. Viewer also freezes if you select 'Preview' rather than 'Print' and then print the document from within preview.

Thanks

Hi, Mike,

The problem is that you have the 'Archive PDF customer copy' open with the viewer and that you are also trying to act on the file (eg. overwrite it) which isn't possible when it is already open by another process.

To close the PDFviewer window, you need to respond to the error messages and close the print window.

I'll report this to R&D for you and thanks for bringing it to our attention.
