I did a search on the text 'AR year end' and found a number of similarly posted questions. Here is an example of one issue found:

AR Year End can't be done

Basically, the problem is that something prevented the actual data files from being purged, but the flag in the Company Profile that the posting journal has been purged was set. The solution is to manually delete the ARPOST* data files.
