Good day to you all,
We are finding that when importing multiple GL batches, the system does not save the folder of previous import.
Is there a switch somewhere that we have missed and if not, could this be saved as a session variable (no need to write it out somewhere) in the next release?
This would be very helpfull for us..
As always,
Thank you and,
Cheers, JK

John: Are you clicking on the "Save" button to save the import Template, including the file path?

Hi Bruce,
The import template - geez, this just goes to demonstrate how easy it is to forget that this is all template driven...
Thank you Bruce!

Hi Bruce,
File - Import - detail only...
Turns out it is a little bit more complicated than what I thought.
The user is using a template but the goal is not for a file - the goal is to set a default folder..
There are several apps that export data to a given folder - the exported files follow a naming convention which includes the date.
The previous version of Ledger would, when the file locator button was used, remember the folder the file open operation was last done on - this would allow the user to locate the folder the first time and then simply select the file on subsequent imports as long as the user stayed within the dialog.
In this version, whenever the file open button is pushed a default location is supplied.
The effect of this is that even when using a template, when a user is attempting to import 10 files he/she must use the file open button and navigate from the default file open location.
The previous version of ledger would remember the last location used while staying within the dialog.
The new version does not...
Yikes!
Cheers, JK

Hello John: I just re-read your initial post and you did say "folder" rather than "file"; I missed that.
I agree that when the Browse button is clicked, the default folder should be the one specified in the template. However Adagio is not alone in defaulting to a different location and I don't think we'll see an immediate change.
Instead, you can use Windows to nominate those folders as "Favorites" which can then be selected after clicking on the Browse button. It's not quite as conveneint but it will work.

Hi Bruce,
This will go a ways to reducing the click count - thank you sir!
The user spends his whole day clicking and cliking and noted that the latest release does not behave the way the previous one did.
Could this be brought to dev for consideration - it would surely make for a better product.
Again, always, thank you!!

Create import templates for each file and have them processed automatically when the user logs in. No clicking at all.

Hi Andrew, The names of the files to be imported contain a date and time stamp ergo, the template with a fixed name will not work. Even if we could use an expanded vsariable like %DATE% in the template the user sometimes is a few days behind. Thank you for the recomendation though.. Cheers, JK

Could you create a template that points to a folder/filename that is a placeholder with a name that is correct other than the date stamp? Then the user would only have to correct a few characters in the name when importing.

Hi Ralph,
Thank you for the idea.
It could work but I think winds up requiring more clicks / keyboard activity than the favorites trick...
Again, thank you and,
Cheers, JK
