We've just realized that some of our workstations are not displaying information properly in Adagio GL (9.0D 111017).
When opening the view and changing to a previous year (e.g. 2012), the balance that appears for all income statement accounts is zero when in fact there is a balance. When opening the account it does show the detail and the correct balance appears at the bottom of the page.

Some of our stations work, others not! I've confirmed the same "Balance" field is being selected on all stations.

Any ideas why this is happening? Should we try re-installing the workstations as a first step?

Hi Karin,

The grid on the View Transactions/Budgets screen that lists accounts and the balance as of a specific fiscal year or period is being calculated on the fly for display on the grid. Is there something in common with the workstations that display a balance versus those that dont, such as version of Windows? In case the problem happens with slower workstations, or things along that line.

Or what if Ledger was opened on a workstation with a different Adagio user ID that works? Just to isolate whether the issue is on the workstation or associated with the Adagio user.

The "Current Balance (FY)" is the correct field to have the balance re-calculate based on the selected year/period. Perhaps try resetting the grid for someone where the problem exists?

Are there any other settings for the grid, such as Active Records Only? Is this for period 12 only or all periods in prior years?

Dumb question but have to ask - is everyone looking at the same Ledger database, or has someone loaded a different copy of the data? And Data Integrity clean?

We're not aware of any problems in this area, either in version 9.0D or earlier. The fact that it is only for income statement accounts and prior years could lead to the thought that the 'after-close to retained earnings' balance is being displayed - this is something that I cannot replicate.

Perhaps those users have changed their Grid to show the closing balance for the account. The closing balance for Income accounts is $0.00 as the balance is transferred to retained earnings.

Obviously, this was not on my list of priorities but do have an update on not seeing balances in the GL View. To answer your questions above:
1) no unique setups with the two stations/users that don't work
2) had another user sign on the workstation where problem lies and they can see the balance! So seems to be user linked...
3) Current Balance (FY) field is selected, tried removing it and adding it back. Same problem.
4) This occurs for any period in prior years, current year works.
5) Confirmed we're pointing to the same company
6) Data Integrity is clean

So, based on the result of 2), I thought I'd test users:
1) created a new user: view works
2) copied from the "bad" user to a new user: view works
3) deleted the "bad" user and re-created using the same initial: view doesn't work!

Based on these results, even if I delete the user, it somehow seems to keep a history of the user and its problems...

Not sure if this is just coincidence but thought I'd share it with you in case you can figure out why!
We're functional with a new user/initial but still haven't determined why it wasn't working...

Try resetting the column editor - changes are saved by user. To do this, log in as that user ID, open the window with the problem, and double-click on the grid title. If the column editor opens (this function is security-required), then click the Reset button. This is to ensure that the column layout didn't become corrupted.

If the user doesn't have security rights to access the column editor, then try having the SYS (system administrator user) do the same process, as SYS has an option to reset the grid for all users.

Funny how we go about our day and don't notice the other buttons that are in front of our noses...The RESET button solved the problem! Interesting that we had removed the Current Balance FY and re-added it without success but the RESET button did the job.
