The actual Crystal Reports designer is licenced to be installed on a single workstation, rather than on the server. There is a network component that can be installed successfully on a Novell server that allows you to do things such as run PrintTool, a utility that runs reports without requiring the report designer.

If you only require one person to write the reports but many people to be able to print them, then this would be the easiest way to go. If you require more than one person to use the report designer, then in fact a second copy of the designer has to be purchased.

Yeah, it can be a bit confusing, especially since there are 2 components to the installation of Crystal Reports for Adagio.

1) The Crystal Reports designer itself. It belongs on a local workstation and the default directory is just fine. There should be no need for workstation setup or Network Installation Points.

2) Adagio database interface. It will be installed (most often) to a shared network location, in \softrak\rpwin. From here, you need to run a workstation setup for PrintTool (PTsetup) for all other workstations.

When reports are created, copy the RPT files to a shared location. All other users should have a shortcut to PrinTool.exe on the network, allowing them to run those reports.
