Hi, I keep getting access violations in my A/P Module. It is access violation 005DB7B0. The other part of it is 0000008.

This happens when I have the vendor box open, where I am finding a vendor or looking at transactions

Thanks.

Hi Tracy,

What version of Payables do you have?
Do all users get this, or just one workstation?
Does it happen every time you perform the steps to find a vendor or view transactions? Or just sometimes, for specific vendors or transactions?
If it happens every time with your company data, can you confirm whether the same error occurs with the sample data? To determine if the issue is isolated to your data or if it more related to the program.

First, ensure that the data integrity is clean.
It could be hardware/network related, where slow performance for this workstation accessing the data is not able to perform a task that it should. Access Violation errors are quite generic and don't point to a particular cause, though they often are related to the computer being low on resources.

If you can replicate the error every time for any vendor or transaction, you'll probably need to get your Adagio consultant involved.

I have the Payables module 81E (121113). It only happens when I am going in and out of the vendors box. And it seems to be random.

I don't know where the sample data is located.

I am the only user on this program and the Data integrity is fine.

This is a brand new computer, with a dual core processor with 2 GB of RAM. I am not running a lot of programs at one time.

I am a new Adagio user, and have been using the program for about 6 months.

Thanks for the information Tracy.

Are you aware if the problem occured prior to using version 8.1E?

Could you be a little more specific what you mean by 'going in and out of the vendors box'? If you could indicate something like 'I edit a vendor, and when I click the OK button to save changes I get the error', or similar detail in the steps to cause the problem.

Sample data would have been installed in the \softrak\apwin\samdata directory.

You might have a new computer, but I presume that you are using Adagio on a network, thus the transfer of data across the network could also be a choke point.

Tracy:

Access violations are almost always the result of hardware problems. As we are unable to examine your hardware in this forum, the best way to get this resolved is to have your Adagio consultnat take a look.

When I open the vendor box to find a vendor, after I find the vendor, then I get the error. Or if I need to view the transactions, etc. After I get out of the query of the vendor screens.

Just today I noticed that I had one of my companies open to view the trial balance and I had open an excel spreadsheet and the internet and the other programs froze until I closed Adagio, then they worked again.

This does not sound good to me.

Tracy:

I can assure you that the source of the problem is not Adagio.

Hello Tracy,

Is your Payables data on a network drive?

Do you locate a vendor by pressing F5 or F6 or by scrolling through the list of vendors in the Vendor Grid?
