Why are we not able to pin any Adagio shortcuts to the Windows 7 taskbar? Any other icon we can pin to the taskbar, but Adagio shortcuts have a circle with a line through it when we try to pin it. Anyone else have this problem?

Susan,
I think the problem you have run into is that Windows 7 will not allow you to pin a program that is located on a network/removable drive.

Is there a workaround?

Hello Susan,

You can still pin Adagio shortcuts to the taskbar even when they are on a network drive. Drag a shortcut to the desktop from the start menu for the program you want to pin to the taskbar. Right click the shortcut & go to Properties. You will see the Target field showing the network path to the Adagio exe file, say N:\Softrak\SOFTRAK\OEWIN\OEWIN.EXE where N is the network drive & OEWIN.EXE is the program file. Click in the Target field to place the insertion point in the Target field & move the insertion point to the far left of the field. Type in Explorer.exe and then a space before the existing path showing in the Target field. It will look like "Explorer.exe N:\Softrak\SOFTRAK\OEWIN\OEWIN.EXE" but skip the quotation marks. Then click OK to exit. You have a shortcut that can be pinned to the taskbar but the Adagio program icon has now been replaced with a generic Windows Explorer icon.

Right click the modified desktop shortcut & go to Properties again. Click on "Change Icon" and browse to the location of the OEWIN.EXE (using the example above) file using the same path showing in the Target field and choose an icon. Then click on OK, then "Apply" in the lower right and then close out "Properties" by clicking OK. You can now drag the shortcut to the taskbar.

Hi Susan,

Another workaround is to pin a local shortcut to the task bar, then edit the properties to point at the network EXE.

Seems like a lot of work to me. I don't know why Microsoft feels that network EXE's shouldn't be pinned.
