Hello Mel,

Please go to the Company Profile and set the Diagnostic Level to Verbose.

Check integrity again.

This time, the DataCare log will tell you what was being checked that caused the Fail

Hello Mel,

Which version of Datacare are you running?

There was an issue with an early version of Datacare reporting an error on this field if the Employee?s Deduction class was set to None. However, this error was fixed in 1997.

Hello Mel,

Yes, you may have some data corruption.

With Datacare v6.5A (001128), none of the valid Deduction classes will cause this error to be reported.

Hello Mel Orecklin,

Perhaps you can fix the error yourself. Edit employee "MOKAJR" and visit all the earning and deductions for the employee. By that I mean, select each one in turn and "Enter" through every field. Then run DataCare again and see if the program has fixed the invlid information. It may.

Otherwise, it's probably easiest to send us the data electronically. To have it waiting for us on Monday, you can visit http://www.softrak.com/dbr and follow the directions for uploading the data. Figure on $400 for the repair (although that's not my department - Carleen will be in touch to confirm the details).

Hello Mel Orecklin,

DataCare was probably complaining about invalid (unprintable) characters in the deduction field. This type of error is usually caused by a hardware failure (NIC, wiring, controller card etc.) or power problem. Just keep on the lookout for this occurring again (sometimes they are just intermittent).

Glad we could help!

P.S. Is there a reason you chose to be setting up a new DOS system rather than Windows with Adagio? Why not take in one of the webinars?
